Wonderful and Interesting…

There is an exception which some people have to learn by being honest, by treasuring honesty and trusting that others are also acting in good faith.

Sometimes they are not. They are not like you, and your honesty is getting in the way of their agenda. They do not have the time, patience, goodwill or curiosity to weigh truth and fiction. Certain truths may be an enemy they will go to great lengths to suppress and destroy. Be aware. They usually do not work alone, but the one who is most brazen and self-righteous will be the leader — concocting elaborate fictions to remove you or someone you care about from property, health, identity and relationships. They will divide you from those you love. They will do their utmost to divide you from yourself. They can be relentless. Your suffering may amuse them. Sometimes, there really is a conspiracy going down.

They say you can’t cheat an honest man. Don’t believe it. Don’t believe any of the sayings you hear. They are merely shortcuts and superstitions designed to rob you of the energy, air and space that truth requires. And If ever you find yourself on the liars’ turf, surrounded by the rotten fruit of his misrepresentations and malcontent, know that no amount of honesty will help you there. The lies have become environmental and sustained, thriving in a thickened and warped tableau — the context of which you might not exactly understand for a long time to come. Here, the lies are just so much less messy, so much more believable and convenient than the truths you want to explore and share. Your story must not be told here. Your truths will not be heard. Your truths will be mocked, shunned, shut down and killed off. You will be in a war where the meaning of truth and the value of life is worthless. Entire populations have faced such wars, and then we all forget.

So, remember the wars. How inane the treachery and how tall the tales that lead one human being to kill — to kill another. That led so many more to kill so many more. See the de-humanization of those days — of these days. Today.

The wars were not ended by truth or by justice. Wars die out when brutality has left the battlefield unrecognizable for the bodies that litter it, or by the poisons that empty it of life or make that life unrecognizable. At best, a war ends by espionage and counter; by trick and by code; by decode and lie. Brutal retaliation might have been a sin, but a lie to save a friend during wartime never was. The lie that saves a life is brave. The lies that save a people are heroic. So, resort to trickery to confuse and confound and escape, and lies to survive.

And you will mourn your truths — truths that don’t work amid brittle layers of corruption, carelessness and inhumanity. The lies you tell will hurt you. But they are necessary to change the field, the warpath, the front, and for your escape.

Look to what is really there, not what you think was always there, not what you expect to see, not the illusions nor distractions set to haunt your path so you see what they want you to see. Then look again.

And lie. Lie so that you might live another day to seek what is more and more real. Lie in the name of truth in all its depths, vividness and variation.

And if you prevail long enough to look into the eyes of those who thrive on empires of cheap deceits, you will see that there is nothing of humanity in those eyes. No empathy. For these are mere prophets of greed. And no matter how clever they might at first seem, those eyes never twinkle. They reflect nothing interesting or charming — only predictability — as the only goal of the mind behind never waivers with health or heart. But remains, self-gain. At the cost of another and another, it remains steadfastly focused upon its meager self. And its followers and protectors are all the more flat and sad.

So get away. Get away.

May you be blessed in your escape. May it grant you the freedom to be curious again, the freedom to offer up that which you find most true once more. May you live to hold many truths in your mind at once.
