It took me a while, but I finally figured out who your writing style reminds me of, James Burke. He’s the guy that does Life After People. What you write isn’t cut and dried, I think we’ve all had a science class like that, it’s dynamic, it allows me to "see" what you’re talking about.

What an uplifting comment, Catherine. You make all worth it. Thank you so much! ❤️ Now I have to read something from James Burke. 🤗

Your welcome. See if you can find the tv series "Life Before People", that’s how I know of him. He speaks just like you write. Check Netflix or Amazon.

CSNY put out the most popular version of the song, but the words and music were written by Joni Mitchell.

Indeed they were written by Joni Mitchell, but CSNY made the song famous...that is what most people recognize. Most non-musicians assume a song was written and composed by the person or group who makes it a hit. This is not the case. There are likely a lot of people out there who have no idea who Joni Mitchell is, and the first time they ever saw her was on the Grammy Awards this year. Going forward, if I quote a song, I will preface the attribution with either "performed" by or "written" by so as to not offend anyone's sensibilities. Did you know that Joni Mitchell did not attend Woodstock? She skipped it on the advice of her agent, watched the festivities on TV, and then wrote the song, with a first-hand account she received from Graham Nash, who did attend Woodstock, and who she was dating at the time. (If my musical sources can be believed!)

I didn't know that.

Great read, thanks, Rene! I probably spend too much of my time thinking about how everything we are made of is billions of years old stardust. All atoms in the universe can only be created deep inside stars, and once they explode, they scatter throughout the Universe. As Carl Sagan said “We are a way for the Universe to know itself”. We are just starting to stuff trying to figure out other star stuff.

For me, every day starts with blood because I’m a diabetic.

It’s strange to see any beauty in it.

Thank you.

Love your post. When sad, I tell myself(after the self hate is done washing through) “but I am of the stars and one with the universe and my dogs. I am one with all that has gone before me and with my grandsons and their children.” ( or words to that effect). And I can take the next breath and move forward. Thanks!!

Sitting here with my mouth open because it’s incredulous, and I really can’t think of all the descriptive, beautiful adjectives for this piece. It’s early, but worth rising for the ingestion; ergo, I loved it! 😍 Just imagining that BLOOD brought this response…and I’m not a blood-lover. 👏 Really, really well-done. (Now, I’m craving a cinnamon roll. lol) WHY? 🤷 😂

Enjoy! That's the beauty of this platform, Substack. Someone wrote the word 'blood' on a comment. Not positively or negatively and nothing illuminating either. But for some reason, it clicked. What do I know about it? Nothing, that's what. So I decided to change that. 🤗🌱✌️

Very entertaining and a bit on the disturbing side. Lol, but good stuff. I’m always curious about Rh negative blood types. I am Rh negative and through pregnancy I have to go through a few extra steps to have a baby or my blood can literally kill my baby if they are positive. Super weird, I don’t get it.
