Love her. Always one of my favorites. “Sinner Man,” one of my all time favorite songs. God bless her. I had no idea. Thank you for this information. ❤️🙏🏼
Nina Simone, Paul Robeson and Marion Anderson are the people whose names I drop at the feet of any fool who tries to tell me about the superiority of the caucasian race.
All were rebels, all possessed genius, and all were oppressed by a shameful, and largely ungrateful, country.
Thank you for this. There can never be enough tributes to Nina Simone.
One of my favourite singles, bought in 1968, was Nina Simone’s Ain’t got no - I got life. I listened to it endlessly. Also in The Netherlands she was beloved ;-)
I knew already a lot about her (mostly because of a documentary about her in many ways heavy life) but now I know even more. And I didn’t know that she also sang Wild is the Wind. Sounds fantastic. I only knew David Bowie’s version.
A very moving story! Thank you for that.
Thank you, Anne! ✌️

Thank you, Sera! You beat me to it! I was gonna add that as a comment. ✌🏼
Thank you René! You piece it’s a beautiful Portrait of Nina Simone🎶😍🎶An immortal soul she is🪷
Thanks, Marcia!
She was like Kanye, if he had what they used to call talent...
Are you serious??? I hope not.
Such a genius, and such a sad story but one echoed in many women whose names we don't know.
Yes, of course. But this post is about her.

I so much appreciate your comment. Thank you! ✌🏼
Her voice, her lyrics, her songs--they are exquisite. I'd heard parts of this René. So very sad.
I love women who tear doors off the hinges with their courage and unapologetic fire.
Agreed. However, some would argue that if you're in show business, you could completely thrash your career. And she did that.
Not the career she should have had if not for the color of her skin.
Beautiful words for a beautifully talented human
